Celebration Liu Bao – Late 1980s Malaysian Aged Classic
Celebration is part of Cha Zhi Ji’s Ma Cang Qing Chun Series, a rare Liu Bao tea aged since the late 1980s. Produced in Wuzhou, Guangxi, this tea was processed using traditional methods, including wet piling and steaming, then stored long-term in Malaysia to develop its distinctively clean and mellow character.
This tea underwent relatively light fermentation at the time of production, providing ample room for post-fermentation aging. Over decades, it has evolved into a smooth and structured tea with layered complexity.
The liquor is pure, sweet, silky, and slightly viscous, with a soft, subtle aroma. It exhibits a refined and light-bodied profile while still offering a deep and satisfying mouthfeel, reflecting the elegant charm of aged Liu Bao.
A historic tea from Cha Zhi Ji’s Malaysia vault. Limited availability – steeped in time and tradition.

I was drawn to brew-up some Liubao in the heat of a humid July afternoon. Celebration was the tea of choice and it did not disappoint. The mouthfeel of this tea was like rich soup. Larger leaves made for a nicely thick tea. Aged taste and woody tastes accompany subtle aromatics for multiple steeps.
