Cha Zhi Ji – Wuyi Rock Tea Beidou No.1 (北斗一号)

Beidou No.1 is a rare varietal of Wuyi Rock Tea cultivated from cuttings of the original Da Hong Pao mother trees, grown on Beidou Peak in Wuyishan. This cultivar, with over 70 years of cultivation history, features broad-leafed plants with glossy green foliage and dense branching.

Crafted entirely by hand using traditional methods, this tea is custom-produced by Ruiquan tea master Huang Shengliang – a nationally recognized inheritor of intangible cultural heritage in Da Hong Pao tea-making and a senior tea evaluation expert.

Cha Zhi Ji has preserved and developed this varietal since 1999 to maintain its rich, complex aroma. The spring harvest is conducted only once a year between mid to late April. The leaves are processed through withering, tossing, pan-firing, rolling, drying, refining, and precise charcoal roasting.

Tasting Profile:

  • Dry leaves: dark green with reddish tones, tightly twisted
  • Liquor: bright amber, crystal clear
  • Aroma: intense floral fragrance blended with dried fruit sweetness
  • Taste: full-bodied, sweet and lingering, with a strong and lasting “yan yun” (rock rhyme)

This tea stands as a classic representation of the Da Hong Pao lineage – fragrant, structured, and unforgettable.
