Product Description

This petite 50 ml Xiao Da Bin teapot is hand‑built in Yixing from aged ore purple clay and is part of Cha Zhi Ji’s five‑grade collection. Each teapot in this series uses traditional techniques and long‑term cellaring to reveal the true flavour, energy and elegance of tea. The Xiao Da Bin form—named after the Ming‑dynasty potter Shi Da Bin—is a classic round style with a balanced body, comfortable handle and short spout that makes pouring precise and steady.

Our diamond‑grade clay is the highest tier in our grading system and offers supreme performance in aroma, smoothness and fullness. This dense, high‑quality zisha clay deepens the body and texture of brewed tea and develops a rich patina with repeated use. Because Yixing teapots are porous and retain heat well, trace amounts of brewed tea flavours and minerals are gradually absorbed into the pot. Over time this “seasoning” process gives every teapot its own unique interior coating, enhancing future infusions. For this reason we recommend dedicating the pot to one type of tea and cleaning it with water only.

The small capacity of 50 ml encourages gongfu‑style brewing: short steepings and multiple infusions served in small cups. It’s ideal for solo sessions or tasting rare Pu‑erh, black and oolong teas. Inside the pot you’ll find a multi‑hole filter to keep leaves out of the cup while maintaining a smooth, even pour. With regular use, the diamond‑grade clay will deepen in colour and develop a lustrous patina, rewarding the mindful brewer with both beauty and nuance.

  • Capacity – 50 ml: sized for personal gongfu brewing.
  • Diamond‑grade purple clay: highest grade of our five‑grade system, prized for aroma clarity, smooth body and fullness.
  • Handcrafted: shaped by skilled artisans using aged Yixing ore and traditional tools.
  • Classic Xiao Da Bin shape: round body, ergonomic handle and short spout for precise pouring.
  • Porous heat‑retaining clay: absorbs tea oils and minerals and gradually develops a seasoning patina; retains heat for pu‑erh, black and oolong teas.
  • Multi‑hole filter: built‑in strainer yields a clean cup.
  • Perfect for pu‑erh, black and oolong teas: Yixing teapots are traditionally used for these tea types.
