Product Description

The Yun Tong Hu (“smooth transit” or “unimpeded flow”) teapot is designed to evoke ease and good fortune in tea brewing. Its softly rounded body sits low and stable on a slightly recessed foot, while the short, upturned spout and generous handle make pouring easy. The most striking feature is the lid: a domed cover topped with a loop‑shaped knob that resembles a bridge or carry‑handle. This distinctive ring symbolises seamless transport and connection, echoing the teapot’s name. The lid fits snugly into a narrow collar, and a built‑in multi‑hole filter inside the body ensures a clean pour.

This 260 ml teapot is made from bronze‑grade zisha clay. Cha Zhi Ji’s five‑grade system rates bronze grade with two to three stars for aroma, body and mouthfeel, making it an accessible choice for daily gongfu tea. Bronze‑grade clay offers dependable performance without the rarity premium of higher grades. Like all Yixing clay, it has a microporous structure that absorbs tea oils and minerals, gradually seasoning the pot and enhancing the flavour of future brews. The clay also retains heat well, keeping tea warm through multiple infusions.

With its 260 ml capacity, the Yun Tong Hu is ideal for serving two to three people or for longer sessions. The looped lid knob doubles as a handle for easy lifting and reflects the theme of unimpeded movement. Use this pot for pu‑erh, black or oolong teas; its moderate porosity smooths bitterness and brings out sweetness. Over time, the bronze‑grade clay will darken and develop a mellow sheen, turning this everyday teapot into a personalised favourite.
